In the Maritime Women's Football League, the Saint John Storm blew out the Halifax Explosion 36-0 in their final regular season game.

The Storm opened the scoring on a long drive in the second quarter, finished by an eight-yard TD run by Kendra Jones. Michelle Young-Mather caught a 10-yard pass from Lisa Harlow to make it 14-0 at the half. Tammy Saunders, Harlow and Young-Mather added rushing TDs for the hosts in the second half. Kicker Terri Shannon was 3-for-5 kicking two-point conversions.

The stingy Storm defence allowed just one first down and one completed pass. The front three of Amanda Craine, Heidi McMillan and Trina Graves all recorded a sack and Amber Dennis chipped in an interception.

Saint John Storm ran its league-best record to 5-0-1, outscoring its opponents 191-14. They'll face the 1-5 Capital Area Gladiators in semifinal playoff action next Sunday at Millidgeville Field at 4 p.m. Halifax, which finished 3-3, will host the Moncton Vipers in the other semifinal. Moncton improved to 2-3-1 with a 26-0 road win over the Gladiators Saturday.
